The life of a photographer who likes to shoot just about anything.

Paterson, NJ

A two family apartment house in Paterson in the 1970’s. It is abandoned because a highway was scheduled to be built through this area and the local inhabitants had to move. – the law of Eminent Domain. I know this because I was one of them. The highway was never built, the house was torn down and the area was cleaned up.

My grandmother lived on Franklin street and was also affected by eminent domain. She moved to 24th street which was a blessing in disguise. Would you happen to have any pictures of the downtown area in the 70’s ? Jacob’s, Meyer Bros. A&S?

I don’t have many (believe me, I wish I did) but I’ll go through what I have and post them in the future. Also there’s a facebook page on Paterson that’s worth joining –

The name of it is – “You know you lived in Paterson, NJ in the 50’s & 60’s”.
While it does focus on an earlier time, there are more recent photos too. There’s lot of members who post photos regularly, some I’ve posted myself.
