Grand Canyon North Rim Sunset

Consider, we are the only species that is aware and appreciates the beauty of a sunset.

Near the Edge…

Hiking on a trail in the Grand Canyon can be exhausting.
An option is riding a donkey.

Sunrise in Monument Valley

Monument Valley, Arizona

In 2006 I finally made the trip to Monument Valley.
I have wanted to visit for years.
It is one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
I arrived early and captured a quick photo
of my son and daughter surrounded by the
incredible beauty of the Valley.

Back to the Future…

Arizona, Highway

“Where are we Mom?” asked Joey.
“Don’t know Joey,” answered his Mom.
“When will we get there Mom?”
“Don’t know Joey.”
“What do you know Mom?” asked Joey.
“We’re heading back to the future,” said his Mom.
“When do we eat?”
“Don’t know Joey.”
“I don’t like this trip,” thought Joey.

Photograph from somewhere in Canyon de Chelly.

For nearly 5,000 years, people have lived in these canyons – longer than anyone has lived uninterrupted anywhere on the Colorado Plateau. Today, Navajo families make their homes, raise livestock, and farm the lands in the canyon. The National Park Service and Navajo Nation actively work together to manage park resources. Usually the view made is of the Colorado River centered
in the image. I thought it was time for a “view askew” (with
apologies to filmmaker Kevin Smith).

Monument Valley

Haven’t visited since 2006. Almost did last year with my trip out west but didn’t have the time. Still one of my top ten favorite places. Whenever a John Ford movie or a commercial is on TV and it’s filmed in Monument Valley, I have to stop what I’m doing and watch.
