Looking forward to my eventual return to the park.

The National Parks

Delicate Arch, Arches National Park, Moab, Utah

Many photographers, both amateur and professional, have taken thousands of photos of these landscapes.  But regardless of the artistic talent and technical skill of the photographer, to stand on the edge of the Grand Canyon, to see an arch at Arches National Park, to drive along Rte 24 in Utah to see Capitol Reef National Park, is to really see the land.

The photograph is of the Delicate Arch located in Arches National Park, Moab, Utah.

The Delicate Arch. I got lost returning to my car. Thankfully, with the help of strangers, I made it.

Lost in Arches National Park

Arches National Park

Jason reminded me that on our family vacation out west, he and I got lost in Arches National Park, Moab, Utah. I wanted to take a nighttime photo of the Delicate Arch. The arch is 1 mile walk from the car. We trekked  in daylight but couldn’t find our way back at night. We had to literally call out “Help”! Someone, who wasn’t lost, came to our rescue and guided us back to our car.
Returning to the hotel, I found Deb (I state this “politely”) unhappy. She was “thisclose” to calling the police. Secretly I think she was happy I had a ton of scratches on my legs from the thick bushes Jay and I walked through on our “lost” journey. (The photo above is from the night.)

Nighttime in Moab

I posted this photograph on my blog in 2009. My son and I had gotten lost during a nighttime photography adventure. I reposted the photograph because it’s one of my favorites.
