Sunset Crater

Sunset Crater, Arizona, National Park, Volcano, Ancient Volcano

Sunset Crater Volcano! Roughly 900 years ago, the eruption of this volcano reshaped the surrounding landscape, forever changing the lives of people, plants and animals. Hike the trail through the lava flow and cinders and you’ll likely discover colorful, ruggedly dramatic geological features coexisting with twisted Ponderosa Pines and an amazing array of wildlife. (from the NPS website)

An amazing place to see.  The view is the side of the volcano. (that’s me talking)

An option is riding a donkey.

Nearing Sunset in Capitol Reef National Park, Utah

Sunset in Capitol Reef National Park, Utah

Capitol Reef National Park is probably not the first place that comes to mind when thinking of America’s National Parks. For me, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone or Yosemite are what immediately comes to mind but Capitol Reef is worth visiting. Also what sets the park aside from the other places is that a highway cuts through some of it. With Yosemite, Arches, Canyonlands, etc. you drive through an entrance gate to access the parks. There is an entrance to a section of Capitol Reef, but a portion of it lies along rte 24, making it easy to access without any fees.

The  photograph of the Twin Rocks in Capitol Reef was taken
along rte 24 several hours before sunset.
Travel photography in America’s National Parks is probably my favorite activity.

Spies!

While I was visiting and photographing in the Valley of Fire State Park, I was being watched.
I’m not sure if they’re from the CIA or NSA but they were watching me.
