London at Night

London, England, Parliament

Photograph made on a return visit to London several years ago.
I love traveling to England, but am not sure about the future.
When I made my first trip for my honeymoon in 1984, the roundtrip
tickets for my wife and I were around $200 each.
If only that were still the case today.

The Tower Bridge

During my travels to London, I captured this photograph of the Tower Bridge.
One of my favorite bridges in the world.

London Eye…

…started a trend. They’ve built a similar wheel in
Las Vegas and there’s talk of one being constructed in Coney Island.

A Visit to Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square

I went to London for the first time on my honeymoon. My wife and I were looking to go someplace we had never been, someplace exciting and where language would not be a problem. I fell in love with London on that trip.

The photograph above is the fountain in Trafalgar Square in 2011. I was walking alone at the time. It was early evening and the family had returned to the hotel as they were tired. It had been a long day and I was tired too, but I wanted to keep on walking.

The Automobile

Car, Auto, Automobile, London, England

Somewhere in London in 1993 I photographed this car rounding a corner.
It was the type of car that I’d never see back home in the US
and I loved it’s “personality”. It’s style. It’s body.
When I returned to London in 2011 this car had disappeared. Everywhere
I looked for a “distinctive body” automobile, none where spotted.
The same is true for back home. I converse with friends that everything
looks alike now. Fords look like Hondas look like GMs look like Nissan etc.,
etc., etc. I wish I had my 1972 Pontiac LeMans. That was style. That was class.

Piccadilly Circus

Piccadilly Circus, London, England

One of my favorite places in London is Piccadilly Circus. It is also one of the places where I am most exasperated. Every time I visit, something in the area is being refurbished. This time included. There was scaffolding on some of the buildings on the north-side of the Eros statue. It’s like the government of England knows. “He’s coming again. Operation Piccadilly Circus is a go!” Guess I’ll have to try again. Maybe the next time I visit, I’ll get lucky.

The above photograph of Piccadilly Circus was taken around noontime on a busy weekday. (I made sure not to include any of that damn scaffolding.)
