Haven’t visited since 2006. Almost did last year with my trip out west but didn’t have the time. Still one of my top ten favorite places. Whenever a John Ford movie or a commercial is on TV and it’s filmed in Monument Valley, I have to stop what I’m doing and watch.

Monument Valley is located in the Navajo Nation. I discovered the Valley in Ernst Haas images in the 1960’s and dreamt of visiting one day. It wasn’t until 2006 when that dream was realized.

Lost in Arches National Park

Arches National Park

Jason reminded me that on our family vacation out west, he and I got lost in Arches National Park, Moab, Utah. I wanted to take a nighttime photo of the Delicate Arch. The arch is 1 mile walk from the car. We trekked  in daylight but couldn’t find our way back at night. We had to literally call out “Help”! Someone, who wasn’t lost, came to our rescue and guided us back to our car.
Returning to the hotel, I found Deb (I state this “politely”) unhappy. She was “thisclose” to calling the police. Secretly I think she was happy I had a ton of scratches on my legs from the thick bushes Jay and I walked through on our “lost” journey. (The photo above is from the night.)
